There is a growing body of evidence that shows that museums can act as agents of social change and inclusion (Sandell, 1998) and that participation works. Yet culture is often not considered a key component of social change initiatives

My gut instinct that we will get to know whether as a society we can recognise if it’s possible to ‘half believe’ in dementia friendliness by the actual behaviour of society. But it does mean people who know a thing or two about dementia have to stick their neck above the parapet, even if they’re deliberately excluded from conferences or undermined by people with long titles.Thankfully people like Sharon Ford and the teams from the Museum sites across Wales who are true leaders are more interested in doing what’s right not just doing things.

If you've never been to the Welsh Folk Museum at St Fagans, you are missing a real treat. In my opinion it is far and away the best museum in the United Kindom. Give yourself a couple of days there to do it justice.
